The Guild's Professional Development Program
Photo by Mike ShowalterA new Associate Member receives the Guild Resource Handbook and is offered the opportunity to be partnered with a mentor, a Full Member who is available for guidance.
Upon joining the Guild, the new Associate is enrolled in the Professional Development Program (PDP), which focuses on the skills essential to the professional tourist guide. Conducted by qualified professional trainers, the Program consists of workshops concentrating on communication and presentation skills, group management techniques, logistics in routing and coach operator relations.
To apply for full membership, the Associate must have completed the Professional Development Program, met specified attendance requirements at Guild meetings and educational programs, and passed a written test and practical assessment.
